The Christmas Tree Extravaganza is a grove of live Christmas trees that will be decorated by families, businesses, organizations, and groups of friends as part of a friendly Christmas Competition to see who can create the most beautifully decorated Christmas Tree in Lafayette.
Many of the festivities surrounding the Merry & Bright Christmas Downtown will be held in Parc International which will be converted into the "North Pole of Downtown" from December 6-January 5. The parc will be decorated and bedazzled with a 24-foot tall Official Christmas Tree of Lafayette, giant ornaments big enough to walk through, a live Christmas tree grove, 2,000 feet of string lights, and an assortment of other Christmas decorations.
As part of the Merry & Bright Downtown Christmas, there are multiple opportunities to bring the young ones to meet Santa Claus, take photos, and deliver Christmas wishes to the big man.
