SOLA Giving Day: A CMA + DLU Mural Project

The Children’s Museum of Acadiana (CMA) is beginning its journey toward a placemaking project that extends past the campus and elevates the entire downtown community. Downtown Lafayette Unlimited (DLU) and the CMA have been involved in programming downtown for decades and have more recently engaged in a joint effort to bring vibrancy to Parc Sans Souci while focusing in on accessibility for children and families. The next step toward park vibrancy is to capitalize on the opportunity to provide a visually stimulating, artistic mural to both serve as a backdrop to the park’s activities and signify the Children’s Museum’s important presence in the heart of downtown. A central tenet of CMA and DLU’s shared vision is the belief that families deserve fun, colorful and stimulating spaces within their community. Backed by research affirming the profound impact of the physical environment on a child’s development, CMA and DLU strive to create a space that positively influences cognitive, emotional, and social growth, fostering wonder and curiosity.
