Downtown Coffee Talk with Kimberly Boudreaux

Join Downtown Lafayette Unlimited for our August Coffee with Community Leaders presented by Jones Walker, LLP.

DLU hosts an August Coffee with Community Leaders with guest speaker Kimberly Boudreaux, CEO of Catholic Charities of Acadiana in partnership with the Urban Land Institute. Kimberly will be discussing the homelessness surge in Lafayette since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, challenges, solutions, and small wins. At the onset of the pandemic, the Acadiana region experienced an 82% increase in homelessness (with family homelessness up over 200%), along with a 77% decrease in emergency shelter beds. Since then, nonprofits like Catholic Charities of Acadiana have struggled to meet the needs of these men, women, veterans, and children who have lost their homes.

Join us to learn more about the state of homelessness in our area as well as key issues such as homelessness prevention, affordable housing solutions and rent assistance programs…

This event is scheduled for August 29th from 8:00-9:30 am in the Jones Walker conference room located on the 16th floor of the Chase Tower (600 Jefferson St).
