Downtown Plan and Downtown Code
The Downtown Development Authority’s mission is to enhance the development of downtown Lafayette so that it is a great place to live, work, shop, eat, drink and play.
DDA strives to speed the redevelopment of Downtown to further establish the district as the cultural hub of Acadiana by partnering with strong civic leadership to pre-empt bad development that can potentially undermine the vibrancy of Downtown and to re-engage the development community into high-quality, cohesive development and catalyst improvement projects that promote a vibrant, high-quality, convenient, urban lifestyle that also boosts economic activity and nurtures big and small businesses.
Unified Development Code
The Downtown Code has been integrated into the Unified Development Code. See the latest version here:
Congress Corridor
Be the first to know about the transformation of Congress Street from a high-speed, drive-only suburban arterial that acts as a barrier between the Downtown and the La Place neighborhood into a walk-able, bike-able, transit-able, drive-able street that serves as an asset for the entire community.
