The History of Downtown Alive!
Read about how Downtown Alive! came to be and how it continues to evolve today.
For over four decades, Downtown Alive! (affectionately known as DTA!) has been bringing free, live music to Downtown Lafayette. What began as a small Friday night street party has evolved into a beloved community concert series attended by thousands of concert-goers. Spanning genres from Cajun and Creole to Zydeco, Indie Pop, Rock, Soul, Country, Folk, and RnB—DTA! is an event for all music lovers.
Held on the first Friday of each month during the spring and fall seasons at Parc Sans Souci, these free concerts are a lively gathering where locals and visitors alike can enjoy vibrant performances and watch some of the best dancers in town take to the floor.
To keep admission free, attendees are encouraged to support the event by purchasing refreshments from the on-site food and beverage tents.
Please leave ice chests at home and help keep DTA! free by grabbing a drink from the beverage tent and a bite to eat from food vendors.
Downtown Alive! is a free event and relies on community support from volunteers, business sponsors, and partner organizations. If you are passionate about family-friendly events or the revitalization of Downtown Lafayette, or your business could benefit from exposure to local families, then we urge you to contact us and express your interest in participating.
